September is the January of the fashion world. You return to the real world after the escapism mentality of the summer months and, like the New Year, it is an opportunity to try new things. Maybe this semester you will dare to try a moto leather jacket, try figure out what shade of red lipstick works best for your complexion; whatever trend or style you have been apprehensive about in the past, September is the time to give it a whirl.

With my freshly dyed red hair, this September I have been testing out new colors in my wardrobe and makeup box that will enhance my artificial gingerness. Urban Decay’s Naked palettes are my go to eye shadows, and recently I have been using “Chopper” from Naked 2 or “Trick” from Naked 3. I have also been mixing an orange lipstick and a red lipstick with gold undertones to create a coral lipstick that looks more natural than nautical. Topped off with a coral blush from elf cosmetics, the reddish undertones in my face flatter my fiery hair.

I recently bought a pair of vintage olive pants, which I plan on wearing frequently in the upcoming months. The green is a hot color for this season regardless, and it compliments my hair quite nicely. For a leisurely Sunday, I paired my new trousers with other neutral colors, keeping my overall look polished and cute. That day, I met my boyfriend’s mom for the first time while she was visiting with his aunt for Labor Day weekend, and she said I looked like Audrey Hepburn. That’s a good sign, right?
