Once I took my last final exam and finished my last shift of retail (hopefully ever), I dragged my suitcase full of sweaters and tote bags full of gifts through the Port Authority bus station (#Luxury). After a long semester, I was looking forward to a relaxing week in New Jersey with my family and high school friends. I always like to put in a little extra effort in my appearance when I visit home, but after this crazy month of finals I did not want to wear much more than glorified sweatpants.
For Christmas Eve, I wore an oversized sweater dress that I got from Zara in a last minute panic the night before. It hid my full belly and the fact that I was not wearing a bra, and it showed off my legs when I was wearing my heeled booties. My extended family visited for dinner and I found out that I am officially the shortest cousin on my dad’s side, so I wore my boots all night to not feel like a woodland creature in a forest.
On Christmas Day my family just hung around the house after morning mass, so I did not feel the need to put on actual clothes. I slipped into my newest pajama set from Santa (aka Macy’s) and stumbled into some bad lighting under the tree where I made a decent dent in my newest book: Freakonomics, and sipped some tea out of one my many new mugs.
